Postcard #4

Prague, Czech Republic

Trdelník is a kind of spit cake. It is made from rolled dough that is wrapped around a stick, then grilled and topped with sugar and walnut mix.

Trdelník is found in several Central European countries, most prominently Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. The word trdelník is of either Czech or Slovak origin.

Nowadays, trdelník is very popular among tourists as a sweet pastry in the Czech Republic. A modern version, with fillings such as ice cream, has been spreading in popularity from its origin in Prague.
